Avocado oil (or ‘alligator pear’ as its otherwise known) is one of the base / carrier oils that is used to dilute essential oils before applying to the skin. The quick absorption and penetration of this oil into the skin mean that the essential oils that are used in a massage are carried deeper into the skin.
Avocado is rich in vitamins A, B and D and is excellent for dry aging skin, sensitive and irritated skin. This oil also contains Oleic acid, this is an anti-inflammatory, Linoleic acid and vitamin E are antioxidants.
This oil is absorbed quickly and will not cause acne but it is a thick heavy oil and probably not suitable for oily skins.
Wounds heal faster when a little of this oil is used on cuts and scratches this is due to the unsaturated fatty acids contained in this oil, these fatty acids increase collagen production so help strengthen the skin.
Psoriasis, wrinkles, stretch marks, cellulite and skin regeneration all benefit by using Avocado oil due to the properties contained, one of which is vitamin E.
